Last Wave – This spot has truly added a wonderfully chill option to the growing downtown scene of Point Pleasant Beach. With its surfer vibes and flavorful brews, Last Wave has become a staple of the Jersey Shore Brewery Scene. These fan-friendly brewers always have a great selection, offering over a dozen beers on tap. Right Coast, their classic coconut porter, was one of the first local brews that I remember loving enough to bring home in cans. Start or end your local brewery tour here!
Battle River – There are many reasons to visit downtown Toms River, but Battle River has to be one of the tastiest! This patriotic brewery has over twenty beers on tap and has a great selection of many styles. If you’re in a big group with varied tastes, this is your happy place. From standards like their amazing IPA (Patriot) and Lager (Liberty) to more unique choices like Japanese Rice Lager (Safu) and a bunch of Seltzers, this Red White Brew will be a must-see.
Icarus – Cozy up to the bar or bring your large group to the tents outside. Either way, you’ll enjoy what has become a favorite stop for beer enthusiasts with great beers and a fun atmosphere. Their New England IPA (Yacht Juice) has become a staple at many Jersey Shore watering holes, but we always recommend tasting it at the source! With over twenty beers on tap, you’re sure to find something for the whole party at Icarus. And check out their website, they offer limited home deliveries!
Backward Flag – We love this gem hidden in Forked River and boasting an incredible military-themed location. The owner is not only a veteran but one of the few female brewery owners in the Garden State. This is a place that you will instantly love when you walk in the door. Its walls are plastered with military and first responder gear that gives the customer plenty to chat about while tasting their wide array of beers. Raise a glass and pay tribute to those who keep us safe and free.

Little Dog – It’s hard to believe that a brewery that’s been around for 9 years could still be considered a “hidden gem,” but that’s exactly what this hole-in-the-wall has achieved. With brewing legend Gretchen Schmidhausler at the helm, Little Dog has developed a loyal following among beer aficionados. This quaint little spot is a must-stop on your Jersey Shore brewery tours, where you’ll find traditional, flavorful beers with subtle touches of unique ingredients like ginger (Local Girl)!
Carton – You can find their drinkable session IPA (Boat) everywhere in New Jersey but check out their tap room for a true Carton experience. You’ll feel right at home in the comfortable space while trying great beers like their smooth lager (This Town), milk stout (Carton of Milk), and Italian pilsner (Frusta). The Carton brothers have created a hometown tradition here, and you can’t help but feel the positive vibes.
Source Farmhouse – Sometimes when choosing where to spend your time and money on beer, you should consider the “source”. That’s exactly what this farm-to-glass brewery hopes you’ll think about when you visit this picturesque location. You’ll enjoy the outside space with plenty of seating, great views, and a family-friendly array of outdoor games. These folks put the “craft” in craft brewing with a strong selection of beers, including sours (Creepy Crawlers), Imperial IPAs (Mays Landing), and Lagers (Undrgrnd King).
Twin Lights – A strip mall might provoke turned-up noses from some beer snobs, but Twin Lights has silenced the critics, creating a fun atmosphere centered around their great beers. Their relatively new location carries some advantages: plenty of parking and multiple food options within walking distance. Order a pizza, Chinese food, or Mexican grub and pair your meal with terrific brews like their tasty IPA (Double Vision), hearty Red (Harvest Ale), or Irish Dry Stout (Wild Rover).
